Rangefinder Rising Stars Award

It is with incredible joy that I can announce that I have been selected as one of Rangefinder Magazine’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography for 2020!

This is both an immense honor and a dream come true. It feels like I’ve gone to the Photography Olympics and come home with a gold medal in hand. This means so much to me; more than I can express.

Every year, a secret group of industry leaders and tastemakers nominate hundreds of photographers from around the world for this competition. These photographers submit their 30 strongest images to the competition—images that showcase their unique style and signature as an artist.

After a month-long judging process, the 30 winners for the year emerge as Rangefinder Magazine’s 30 Rising Stars. Some of my favorite photographers are past recipients of the award, and I’m humbled to be counted among them.

I cannot begin to describe the feeling of winning this competition. Getting the nomination is an honor in its own right and I was giddy when I got the word. Then, when I opened the email that I had won, I broke down crying. I’ve poured years of work into starting and growing my business, and this award brings an incredible sense of validation to my vision and process.

I have too many mentors, supporters, and amazing clients who I would like to thank. Getting here would have been impossible without your encouragement and opportunities. I have no idea where I would be today without you all on my team. There are a few people who I’d like to give special thanks to as well.

I’d like to thank Amanda Marie & Ben Kochanowski for helping me hone my portfolio.

Gene Pease & Eric Lundgren for being the best studio mates.

Levi Tijerina & James Moes for mentoring me when I was just starting out.

Jeannine Marie & Becca Diley for helping me get to WPPI and being hotel roommates.

And of course, endless love to Jacqueline Tobin, Libby Peterson, and all the past 30 Rising Stars for pushing me to become a better photographer this year.

And to whoever may have nominated me, I’m forever grateful to have your respect.

Lastly, this award is not just my own. It belongs to every amazing photographer that won this year. I am so excited to watch you all grow and to become a better photographer alongside you all. Life is good, you know what I mean?
